Statewide Specialist Clinic Referral Criteria

Health services sometimes have varying referral guidelines to access specialist clinics, which can lead to confusion.

To overcome this, the Victorian Department of Health has developed statewide referral criteria (SRC) which provide clear, consistent guidance about which patients are appropriate for referral to public specialist clinics.

The guidelines also specify what information and diagnostics are required to support accurate prioritisation.

All six Victorian PHNs support the implementation of SRC. Project management and coordination is provided by VTPHNA.

More than 100 conditions are covered by the referral criteria. For the full list, see this Department of Health webpage. Information can all be found on local PHN care pathways platforms.
