Voluntary Assisted Dying

Victoria’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Act (2017) establishes a legal framework for terminally ill people to request medically assisted death at a time of their choosing. The legislation sets several stringent preconditions.

Resources and information for health practitioners are available on the Victorian Department of Health website.

Complementary information, including diagnostic decision support, is available through the various PHN care pathways platforms.

Western Victoria Primary Health Network maintains an active community of practice for Victorian health professionals interested in voluntary assisted dying. For more information email vadcommunity@westvicphn.com.au

This project is supported by the Victorian Government. Information on voluntary assisted dying in Tasmania is available on the Tasmanian Department of Health website.
